Tammy Abraham is making up for lost time in the Premier League this season.
The Chelsea striker has raced to ten goals in his opening 12 games, with his latest coming in the 2-0 victory over Crystal Palace at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
Not only does it put him level with Jamie Vardy at the top of the league’s goalscoring charts for this campaign, Abraham has also matched another English striker.
After just three months, the 22-year-old has now scored the same number of goals as Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford in his most successful top-flight season.
Rashford, who broke into the Red Devils first team in 2016, is now into his fifth campaign in the Premier League.
Meanwhile, Abraham is starring up front for Chelsea for the first time following various loan spells in the Championship.
Rashford, also 22, has five goals in his opening 11 matches this season, and the pair find themselves in direct competition for a place in the England squad for next summer’s Euro 2020.
They both feature in Gareth Southgate’s squad for the upcoming qualifiers – and Abraham will be pushing for a start following his latest Premier League strike.
The Englishman broke the deadlock against Crystal Palace with a calm finish just after half-time, before Christian Pulisic secured a sixth consecutive league win for the Blues.
