Hon Aponkye born Adabor Ibrahim Isaah Ampim became the talk of Ghana after his interview with broadcaster Nana Aba Anamoah surfaced online. In the interview, it was revealed that Hon. Aponkye is vying for the Assemblyman in the Adukrom Nima electoral area.

But on December 17, 2019, Hon. Aponkye had the shock of his life following his defeat in the assembly member elections in his area. At the end of the counting, he polled 247 votes out of the total ballots. He was 783 votes behind the winner, Rashid Musah who polled 1030 votes.

Reacting to the news after the elections made it emphatic that he’s heading to court for he can’t understand why he lost the elections considering his popularity and the huge number of people who were hailing him before, during and after the elections prior to the counting of the votes.
